Rupi Kaur has been hinting at a new book release, and finally shared the news in mid-July this year that she has completed her third book.
As we eagerly await for the book to drop, Kaur took to her Instagram account to release the title of her long anticipated third publication, entitled Home Body.
Kaur explains Home Body to be “a collection of raw, honest conversations with oneself – reminding readers to fill up on love, acceptance, community, family, and embrace change. Illustrated by the author, themes of nature and nurture, light and dark, rest here.”
Her work has always been heartfelt and passionate. Kaur has not only been vocal about her experiences, but fearless, too.
She holds pride in honouring her identity and culture, with her writing being a window into her life. With Home Body soon to be released, she takes that extra stride to share with us her difficulties in fighting many battles, with a deeper look inside her depression and anxiety.
Her journey through life, in all its trials and tribulations simply signifies a connection to the rising and blossoming of her own self. Especially during this pandemic, many can find comfort through her words and shared experiences.
Kaur has always had the ability to make words flow through one’s heart and mind to find relief, comfort and familiarity.
She taught herself, while also teaching us how to fight the thunder and to still shine through it all. Her words are that powerful and healing.
As a writer myself, I cannot wait for Home Body to be added to my book collection, right alongside Milk and Honey and The Sun and her Flowers, which both consist of love, healing, growth, violence, abuse and Kaur’s ancestral roots.
Rupi Kaur has long been the queen of the South Asian poetry community when it comes to poetry and discussing her heritage, culture, identity and most importantly, her experiences of abuse, love, violence.
Her growth and healing journey guided many of us to do spiritual work as well. With Home Body set to be released in less than 2 months, how will her view of her mind and body bring changes to us?
Home Body is set to be released on November 17, 2020. You can pre-order it now.
