Prateek Kuhad is a tremendously talented indie singer and songwriter based in Delhi. He has released a number of albums and singles in both Hindi and English that gained critical acclaim and resulted in him becoming a fairly well known artist among the South Asian community in the last few years. The release of his EP, cold/mess, along with his 2019 international tour has given him the opportunity to reach a more diverse, global audience.

2019 was definitely a huge year for Prateek Kuhad. Perhaps one of the biggest highlights of his career, thus far was during the new year when his song, cold/mess made it to the list of Obama’s favourite music of 2019. While there is no doubt that this raw and emotion filled song about heartbreak deserves to be on this list, this is one of the few examples of South Asian music and artists being represented in the mainstream. Obama’s eclectic music taste definitely allowed for Kuhad’s music to gain popularity and widen his audience. This is definitely a step in the right direction when it comes to adequate representation of South Asian artists.
